A team activity with a clear beginning and finish

A good team building quiz gives people something to talk about, not just a leaderboard to watch. For example, use a short mix of general knowledge, visual questions and light prompts about shared experiences. Avoid questions that depend on job seniority or put a colleague on the spot.

With OrQuiz, you can create unlimited quizzes for free, test your own quiz with up to 3 players for free, and pay when you are ready to host your event. No subscription is required. As a result, the model is worth considering for occasional team events.

Your 30-minute team building quiz agenda

  1. 0–5 minutes: welcome and a practice question. First, explain the format, show how to answer and make sure everyone can take part.
  2. 5–13 minutes: general knowledge. Next, use six short questions from different subjects so no single specialist dominates the round.
  3. 13–21 minutes: pictures and ordering. Add a picture question, an ordering task or a location on an image. Then, read out the answer and allow a brief discussion.
  4. 21–27 minutes: make it personal to the group. Add a few questions about shared projects or harmless traditions, using facts that everyone has had a chance to learn.
  5. 27–30 minutes: finish together. Finally, celebrate participation and invite everyone to share one surprising answer.

Eight general knowledge questions to start with

  1. Which ocean is the largest? The Pacific Ocean.
  2. How many sides does a hexagon have? Six.
  3. Which chemical element has the symbol Au? Gold.
  4. What is the capital of Japan? Tokyo.
  5. How many minutes are there in two and a half hours? 150.
  6. Which planet is known as the Red Planet? Mars.
  7. Put these fractions in ascending order: 3/4, 1/2, 1/4. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4.
  8. How many degrees are there in a right angle? 90.

Four prompts that make the quiz your own

  • Which year did a shared project begin? Verify the answer with the project owner.
  • Which cropped picture shows a familiar object from your workplace? Use an image you have permission to share.
  • Put three publicly known company milestones in order. Give newer colleagues the context first.
  • Use a survey question to ask which activity the team would enjoy next. Treat it as a conversation starter, not a right-or-wrong test.

For a mixed international group, use plain language and avoid local slang. In addition, keep the questions short enough to read comfortably, and do not require knowledge of one country’s television or sport unless that is the agreed theme.

Run a rehearsal before the event

Test your own quiz with up to 3 players for free to check the network, devices and presentation setup. If the meeting is remote, also check the screen-sharing arrangement you intend to use. Also, confirm participant capacity with OrQuiz for your planned event, especially for a large audience.

Keep the format clear: decide whether people will answer individually or discuss in small groups. If you want group scoring, confirm the scoring setup with OrQuiz before the event.

When does an activation use credits?

A standard smartphone or computer game costs one credit: $24.99 including taxes. The system uses the credit when you move from question 5 to question 6 with at least 4 players. Credits are not tied to a specific quiz, so you can buy them before or after creating your game.

Credits normally remain valid for six months from purchase. Current discounts for packs of 1–10 credits appear inside the purchase screen. For larger packages and their validity periods, contact OrQuiz.

If a game is interrupted, you can resume from where you stopped. Starting again requires another credit. The host controls when everyone moves to the next question. You can even host from a phone, although a computer is more comfortable.
